Tragedy struck in Idaho this morning as 10-month-old Zeke Gregory Best was found dead.
The news follows a massive public search effort which was bolstered by the enhanced AMBER alert that was issued for the baby early Friday morning.
Zeke's father, Jeremy Best, was taken into custody, accused of killing his pregnant wife, Kali Jean Randall, and kidnapping their son.
The heartbreaking sequence of events began when Jeremy Best, disoriented and nude, entered the Swan Valley General Store on Thursday.
Law enforcement responded, but after an evaluation at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Best was discharged.
Later that night, a 911 call from the Best home led Teton County Sheriff’s Office deputies to discover Kali Jean Randall dead.
Jeremy Best had fled with Zeke, prompting the issuance of an enhanced AMBER alert.
Enhanced AMBER alerts include a video brief, an individually-assigned watch zone, and a link to join the search on the US.Watch platform.
Citizens in Idaho and Wyoming rallied on the platform in response to the alert, with the public and law enforcement across both states searching diligently for Zeke and Jeremy Best.
The efforts of hunters on Saturday morning led to the discovery of Jeremy Best in a sleeping bag on Kepps Crossing Road, and tragically, Zeke was found dead nearby.
Jeremy Best now faces charges related to the homicides, and the community mourns the loss of three innocent lives.
